Fairytales

Fairytales
Are for girls
Under the Age of 8
And I havenít seen 8
In a very, very, very long time
So your belief
That you can
Kiss awake my Sleeping Beauty
Find my missing glass slipper
Climb the trellis of my hair
Be the Beast to my Beauty
Well itís just a fairytale
And those
Are for girls
Under the Age of 8
And I havenít seen 8
In a very, very, very long time
So Iím not looking
For a White Knight In Shining Armor
A Pampered Prince
Or a Beast with a heart of gold
To come sweep me off my feet
I prefer not to exist
In a bubble
That is fragile
And will eventually break
Cloudless skies
That never drop rain
Will not quench
The thirst of my heart
Meals of Ambrosia
Will not stave off
The hunger of my mind
For the reality is
A world without balance
Will surely destroy the soul
For how can you feel true Happiness
If youíve never dealt with sorrow
How can you understand Trust
If youíve never experience betrayal
How can you know your true Strength
If youíve never endured weakness
So save your fairytale lines
Of how you can
You can erase all the scars
On my heart, mind, and soul
How you are just what I need
To turn my world into one
Where I will never shed a tear
Where my heart shall never beat in fear
Where my soul shall glisten like polished gold
For I need those tears
To let me know that happiness is around the corner
I need those irregular heartbeats
To let me know what I feel is real
I need those tarnished spots
To let me know that I can overcome obstacles
Fairytales
Are for girls
Under the Age of 8
And I havenít seen 8
In a very, very, very long time
And while my soul has been caught sleeping
It is still capable of soaring
While I have lost a shoe or two
I have never completely lost my footing
I cut off my hair
So there is no trellis to climb
And I donít need a beast
To show me my inner beauty
So remove your armor
Get your hands dirty
Shed your beastly exterior
And search your
Heart, mind, and soul
To find your human side
And then maybe
We can create
A world of compatibility
For Fairytales
Are for girls
Under the Age of 8
And I havenít seen 8
In a very, very, very long time
