Hair Texture Truths

Ever wondered what why the texture of your hair feels different from time to time?
Or why your curls don't look as defined as they use to?
Or why your curls appear to be wound uncharacteristically tight?
Or why your favorite hair care product is no longer working as great as it once did?
Well here's your answer - there external and internal factors that can change your hair's texture, curl pattern, and growth!

Those pesky hormones do more than cause bloating, mood swings, hot flashes, etc.! They actually play a direct role in your hair growth. When you are pregnant the hormonal changes in your body are what cause your hair to appear thicker, longer, and shiner, not those horse pill size vitamins you're forced to swallow daily. The intense about of estrogen in your body slows down the hair's shedding process, giving you the illusion that your hair is thicker. A thyroid imbalance can cause the hair to appear coarser, feel drier, and more brittle.

The amount of fat stored by your body is not the only thing affected by our diets, so is our hair. Your hair and skin crave high amounts of zinc, biotin, iron, vitamin E, and omega fatty acids, and the best way to give them what they need is through what we eat. We can find lots of these vitamins and minerals in salmon, eggs, avocados, oysters, and dark green vegetables such as kale, and spinach. So treat your body and your hair right by eating right!

Your hair looks so healthy and shiny after blow drying and those couple of passes by that flat iron, but that is a sure way to cause permanent damage to your curl pattern and hair texture. If you straighten your hair every week, you will begin to notice that when you wash your hair the curl pattern may appear looser. The unfortunate part about this is it’s not reversible. This type of hair change can only be addressed by cutting your hair and starting all over.

There are other things that alter your hair texture and growth and you can read about those from my source linked below.
